    The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that Metro Columbus’ unemployment rate for July was 7.5 percent, up one-tenth of a percentage point from 7.4 percent in June. The rate in July 2014 was 8.8 percent.

Pursuant to the agreement, AGL Resources will become a new wholly owned subsidiary of Southern Company in a transaction with an enterprise value of approximately $12 billion, including a total equity value of approximately $8 billion.
