Great Day of Golf, Food, & Fun Benefits Environmental Education at ICCF Charity Golf Tournament

Staff Report From Columbus CEO

Tuesday, September 15th, 2015

Callaway Gardens will host the 13th annual Ida Cason Callaway Foundation Golf Tournament Friday, Sept. 25, 2015.  Proceeds from the tournament, co-title sponsored by Callaway Golf and Odyssey Golf, enable the ICCF to share the wonders of nature with thousands of schoolchildren by providing funds for diverse environmental programs available at Callaway Gardens.

This tournament celebrates the great spirit of Callaway Gardens’ founder, Cason J. Callaway, who believed that golf should be a pleasant experience in beautiful surroundings as well as a fun way to introduce children to nature.

“If you are looking for a great afternoon of golf, food, entertainment and enjoying a beautiful Fall day in nature, find your team and sign up.  This is a relaxing but competitive tournament in which teams and individuals will want to participate – ask any past participant and they’ll tell you it’s an event worth attending,” said Wyatt Detmer, director of golf at Callaway Gardens.

Teams will receive a bevy of goods with entry into this can't-miss event:

* Competition round on your choice of Mountain View or Lake View courses, plus a Thursday or Saturday bonus round
*  $200 Callaway Golf Gift Card per player, redeemable for the latest clubs, apparel, footwear, bags and more
*  Pre-round Skills Challenge on Twin Oaks Practice Facility
*  Lunch on the driving range
*  Closest-to-the-pin contests, great door prizes and raffle
*  Access to demo clubs, TrackMan launch monitor session and the Callaway Golf® Merchandise Tent
*  Awards ceremony and reception
*  Complimentary beverage cart during round

Teams will compete in a scramble on either the challenging Mountain View Course, 12 time site of the PGA Tour’s Buick Challenge, or the more scenic Lake View Course.

Proceeds from the event go to the biggest winners:  the students who receive the opportunity to experience the educational and horticultural programs of Callaway Gardens.  In addition to a host of programs and initiatives, the not-for-profit foundation hosts more than 30,000 schoolchildren in the Gardens each year, provides internships for college students and supports Callaway Gardens’ acclaimed Birds of Prey program.

Tournament day registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., with a luncheon to follow.  Shotgun starts on both the Mountain View and Lake View courses will begin at 1 p.m.
