The Georgia Center for Opportunity (GCO) and BETTER WORK Columbus (formerly known as Hiring Well, Doing Good) is announcing the next event in its virtual conference series, “The Changing COVID Workforce,” that features leaders from the Columbus area sharing their expertise on how to adapt to the changing work environment during and after the pandemic.

“Maintaining the Strength of Your Workforce: Employee Retention During a Pandemic” will take place Wednesday, May 19 from 11am to 1pm. To register, click here.

The virtual event is ideal for HR professionals and other leaders dealing with the challenges of employee recruitment and retention. Discussion will also focus on the need to take a broader view of wages and inflation and employment, plus how racial equity in the economy works for everyone.

Speakers for this this event include: Stuart Andreason (Director of the Center for Workforce and Economic Opportunity at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta), Joyce Mayberry (Vice President of Family for the Georgia Center for Opportunity), Diane Geiger (Senior Vice President of Strategic Consulting Services and Business Development at Strategic HR Partners), and Alex Hinton (Senior Vice President of Financial Services and Chief Financial Officer at Columbus Water Works).

Jo Anne Hill (Executive Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Piedmont Healthcare) will moderate the discussion.

“The economy is bouncing back from the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and employers are scrambling to hire and retain workers to deal with the rapid growth,” Kristin Barker, GCO’s program manager for BETTER WORK Columbus. “During this event, we’ll hear from employers who are willing to invest in all of their workers—especially those who earn a lower wage—and are seeing gains in net profits and improvements across the board for their businesses.”
