University Police Officer Jeremy “Brett” Stanelle was named the inaugural recipient of the President’s Staff Excellence Award today at Columbus State University.

The $1,000 award, presented by CSU Staff Council and Human Resources, recognizes a university staff member who demonstrates exemplary service to Columbus State University, commitment to CSU’s mission and values and exceptional attitude in serving the needs of students, staff, faculty and visitors to the university.

Stanelle (BS ’06, MPA ’11), the police department’s primary criminal investigator, has served at the university for nine years. He helped develop CougarSafe, a voluntary program that stores electronic devices’ serial numbers for students and employees in the case of theft, and has led Cougars for Causes, a university-wide donation drive, for three years.

“Whether it’s working with a victim of a serious crime or someone who just needs directions to a parking space, Brett is always courteous, sincere and represents our department and the university in a professional way,” said University Police Chief Rus Dew.
