CTC SkillsUSA Team Wins Big in State Competition

Congratulations are in order for the Columbus Technical College SkillsUSA Team! During the annual statewide competition in Atlanta recently, Columbus Tech students earned medals in seven different categories of hands-on competition.

The gold medal winners are: Jared Winkles/Automotive Service Technology, Samuel Cook/Major Appliance Technology, Robert Everett/Technical Drafting and Joe Addison, Wilmer Escorcia and Zane Harvey/Welding Fabrication.

Silver medalists are Hunter Wilson/Major Appliance Technology and David Hampton/Cabinet making. Taking home the bronze is contestant Kyle Schramm for HVAC.

All gold medal winners will have the chance to represent their school and state in the national SkillsUSA competition in Louisville, Kentucky June 20-24. An estimated 16,000 people are expected to participate in the event – these include students, teachers and business partners.
