'First Friday Art Walk' to Donate Piece of Collaborative Art to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley

Staff Report From Columbus CEO

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2016

The first Friday of every month means something special to the art community and to Uptown Columbus, the ‘First Friday Art Walk’. The last ‘First Friday Art Walk’ brought a new philanthropic element to include the children of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley. During the June 3rd event on the 1000 block of Broadway, event-goers and artists made collaborative art on a children’s play table that was handmade by the ‘First Friday Art Walk’ team of volunteers. This table will be generously donated on June 21st to our JB Woodruff, South Columbus Club.

“The mission of the ‘First Friday Art Walk’ is to bring appreciation for the arts to a greater level in the community.  We put a big focus on children because they are our future. The biggest difference can be made by serving those in need. This month’s collaborative art project was made in hopes to better the quality of life for the children of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley,” said Drew Barwick of the ‘First Friday Art Walk.’

The children of the JB Woodruff Club will be thrilled to have a piece of the community in their club, knowing that it was a group of thoughtful people leaving a mark on their lives and bettering the art room of the South Club. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley appreciates everyone who worked together to get this piece of art from start to finish.

The unveiling of the children’s play table full of collaborative art will be held at 2:30pm on June 21st, at the JB Woodruff Club, 3200 Cusseta Road.
