Aflac, the leader in voluntary insurance sales at the worksite in the United States, announced that Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Julia Davis will be a featured speaker on the Talent Wars in the Digital Age panel at the 14th Annual 2017 MIT Sloan CIO Symposium. She is also a finalist for the 10th annual MIT Sloan CIO Leadership Award, which recognizes CIOs who lead their organizations by delivering exceptional business value through innovative use of technology. The winner will be recognized at the Symposium, the nation's premier CIO conference, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

"What a wonderful achievement this is for Julia and for women who are not just breaking through glass ceilings in the IT profession, but shattering them," said Teresa White, president of Aflac U.S. "For a woman of Julia's caliber to be asked to present and be honored at one of the most prestigious technology schools in the nation – and perhaps the world – is a source of great pride for the Aflac family and Julia's entire team."

Julia Davis is a driving force in the creation and continued application of Aflac's revolutionary One Day PaySM initiative, which enables the company to pay most eligible claims within one business day of receipt, reinforcing Aflac's unique commitment to helping policyholders focus on recovery from covered accidents and illnesses rather than on their finances. In 2016, the One Day Pay program has helped Aflac pay nearly 1.8 million claims, helping customers receive the cash benefits they need quickly and efficiently.

The Symposium will bring together nearly 900 global CIOs, senior IT executives, technology innovators and MIT academic thought leaders. It will consist of a full day of networking, collaboration and discussions around building a digital organization, IT talent management, business leadership and the increasingly important impact technology is having on corporations and society.

"This year's attendees will gain actionable academic knowledge and real-world insights to help guide them on their individual CIO adventure," said Lindsey Anderson, chair of the 2017 MIT Sloan CIO Symposium. "We are excited to once again bring global business and industry thought leaders together to exchange ideas and explore and discuss the newest enterprise technological innovations and challenges."
