United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley Needs Your Help!

Staff Report From Columbus CEO

Thursday, December 7th, 2017

United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley is nearing the end of their 2017 campaign, and they need YOUR help to reach the goal!

According to Scott Ferguson, President & CEO of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley, the campaign is at 85 percent of the $6.9 million goal, which is a little behind last year. “As the United Way annual campaign winds down, we are concerned about where we are at this time,” said Ferguson. “If we don’t hit the goal, people will go without,” he added.

United Way invests donations into local programs that literally change lives one person at a time. Because of United Way, children are learning to read, which increases their chances of high school graduation, which in turn decreases their chances of ending up in prison. Homeless individuals and families are housed. Veterans receive the support they need. Parents in need receive afterschool care for their children.

“We cannot slow down or stop our effort to successfully wrap up this campaign,” said Phenix City Police Chief Ray Smith at a recent United Way Loaned Executive meeting. Smith is serving as this year’s United Way Campaign Chair. Smith stated that some of the companies are just beginning to conduct their employee campaigns and United Way needs everyone to continue to help. “It seems that when employment levels are strong and the stock market is up, people don’t give as much,” Smith said. “I ask you to remember in this season of celebration those that are less fortunate,” he added.

If you have not given, please do so today. It’s okay to give a little more than last year or to give for the first time. Together, the Chattahoochee Valley will help those that need us the most.

If you don’t give, who will? Please GIVE today!
