The Columbus Symphony Orchestra's “The Wild, Wild West” Sunday, October 28th

Staff Report From Columbus CEO

Friday, October 19th, 2018

The Columbus Symphony Orchestra is pleased to present our Family Pops & Education Series concert, “The Wild, Wild West” on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 4:00 PM.

This concert will let you, your children, and your grandchildren experience life in the old West as expressed through music in concert. From life on the ranch, to Billy the Kid, and even the grittiest grit of True Grit, this afternoon of music and activities will be filled with fun for the whole family.

In collaboration with the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries as they celebrate the National Endowment for the Arts’ Annual Big Read, True Grit, this celebration of all things “western” is in tandem with the CVL’s film showing of the classic 1969 version of True Grit on November 2nd as well as the Columbus Museum’s The Idea of the West and Ansel Adams: The Masterworks exhibits which run through
December 30, 2018.

Join us prior to the concert at 3:00 PM in the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts lobby for FREE kids’
activities! Children of all ages can take part in our Instrument Petting Zoo where they will have the opportunity to play several different instruments from the orchestra such as violin, cello, trombone, percussion, and more.

They can also build their own barnyard percussion shakers, make their own cactus planter, strut their stuff in our costume contest, or even conduct the orchestra on stage!

“The Wild, Wild West” is presented by Synovus, Chattahoochee Valley Libraries, The Columbus Museum, Hoo Knows: Family and Kids Magazine, Valley Parent Magazine, and Steeplechase for the Arts.

Concert tickets range from $5 - $20 and may be purchased at the RiverCenter Box Office, Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 5:30 PM or one hour prior to the performance (enter doors located on
