Renewable energy is a crucial issue in the Governor’s race in Georgia. By election day, both candidates, Democrat Stacey Abrams and Republican Brian Kemp, will have visited with community leaders in Hinesville and key executives at Coastal Solar.

Coastal Solar, based in Hinesville, Georgia provides custom designed energy solutions to farmers and businesses with clients all over the Southeast with a heavy focus on poultry - a $22.5 billion industry statewide.

“We are delighted that both candidates selected Coastal Solar to gain more insight into all the positive benefits of solar in the agricultural sphere,” explains Clay Sikes, CEO of Coastal Solar. “Over 65,000 Georgians work in the renewable energy space. Ms. Abrams and Mr. Kemp both seek to understand how important solar is to the future energy needs of the state.”

Ms. Abrams visited Coastal Solar in July to get some critical feedback concerning advanced energy jobs. It was the first stop on her “Statewide Jobs” tour.

On Friday, November 2nd, Mr. Kemp will make his way to Hinesville, visit with Coastal Solar to discuss renewable energy jobs for agriculture and speak at a rally that will start at 3:00 PM in the Hinesville Square Shopping Center.

“I think there are tremendous opportunities for somebody in this race to identify what is available through renewable energy. One thing is for sure - people working in this industry vote,” Sikes said. “We need to embrace alternative energy to continue to create jobs and opportunities for all Georgia citizens.”
