Tennis legend Tracy Austin is coming to Columbus. Columbus State University announced that Austin will be the keynote speaker at CSU Athletics’ Girls in the Game Advance Initiative Luncheon, scheduled for April 9, 2019, at CSU’s Frank G. Lumpkin Center.

Launched in 2015, Girls in the Game seeks to advance and provide support to Columbus State University’s female student athletes so that they may reach their full potential academically and athletically, while empowering them to become leaders in life. Each year, CSU hosts a Girls in the Game Advance Initiative Luncheon that brings together those who are passionate about supporting sports programs for girls. Past speakers at the event included Brandi Chastain, FIFA Women World Cup Champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist, as well as Annika Sörenstam, World Golf Hall of Famer and LPGA legend.

This year the Girls in the Game Initiative will bring another world-renowned headliner to the event: Tracy Austin. At age 16, Austin became the youngest female champion of the U.S. Open. An inductee into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Austin has won three Grand Slam titles, the women’s single titles at the U.S. Open, and mixed double titles at Wimbledon. In 1994, she retired from professional tennis and became a sports commentator.
