Staff Report From Columbus CEO

Friday, March 8th, 2019

The Columbus Botanical Garden is hosting BloomFest, its annual plant sale and market. This event is open to the public and will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Visitors are encouraged to shop for plants, art and items for the garden. Also on hand this year will be a few local food trucks for lunch and refreshments.

A new addition to this year’s event includes a lecture series presented by the Columbus Botanical Garden Horticultural Staff. Topics include “All about Herbs”, “Tomatoes 101”, and “Success with Roses”. These lectures are free and open to the public, however a $5 donation is suggested. Proceeds will support the maintenance and growth of the garden.

Just in time for spring planting, there will be a great selection of plants available for purchase. Horticulturist Ross Chester says, “Visitors should expect to find a wide variety of plants from annuals, flowering perennials, ornamental shrubs and speciality items that are hard to find elsewhere.” The staff is working to have a variety of vendors and nurseries represented at the event.
