CSU Offers Writing Workshop, Competition for High Schoolers

Columbus State University’s Department of English and Carson McCullers Center will host their annual series of creative writing workshops for high school students. Each workshop is free and will be held at the Smith-McCullers House from 1 to 3 p.m. on the following dates.

  • March 2 - Creative Nonfiction

  • March 9 - Playwriting

  • March 16 - Screenwriting

The workshops will help prepare participants for the Carson McCullers Literary Awards, where high school students are given the opportunity to display their proficiency in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, expository essay, playwriting, and screenwriting. Also open to CSU students, high school and CSU winners in each category will receive a $300 award for first place, $200 for second place, and $100 dollars for third place. Writing entries must be submitted by April 5 for the competition.
