The New Parent Support Program introduces an 8-week Food Talk class series from 10-11:30am every through April 22 at 6980 Dixie Road in Building 2652. This free class is educational and fun, with helpful tips on feeding a family of four for less than 415 per day. Includes easy recipes. The Family Advocacy Program will host The Evolution of Aimee Copeland at 1:30pm March 6 in McGinnis Wickam Hall’s Marshall Auditorium. Copeland will speak of her struggles and triumphs after losing all her limbs to a flesh eating disease. Her resilience has inspired captured the nation’s interest, and now she speaks to a Fort Benning audience. This is a free event and open to the public. Four weeks to fitness! Kefurt Fitness Center will host an intensive four-week fitness boot camp starting March 4. Participants will meet at 5:30pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) will include functional fitness tools to make workouts fun, challenging and educational. For 77 years, the Army Emergency Relief Fund has helped the Army take care of its own by providing $1.9 billion in interest-free loans, grants and scholarships to Soldiers and families around the globe. Each year the Army conducts an AER fund raising campaign March 1 - May 15. Deals on wheels! We will auction a variety of used and abandoned vehicles at 10am March 12 at the impound lot on Main Post at the intersection of Kilgore and Marchant. You may preview the merchandise from 1-3pm March 8 and March 11. (There will be no preview the day of the sale.) Bidders who do not attend a preview day are encouraged to arrive early on auction day to obtain a bidder's card. This auction is open to the public. Train now for the annual Chesty Puller Half Marathon Trail Run March 16 on Fort Benning. This challenging dirt and clay route winds deeply through the hilly woods around Kelley Hill. Uchee Creek will host a two-day Fishing Slam March 16 and 17 at the Uchee Creek Marina. The cost is $140 per boat, with a 10-boat minimum and a 90 percent payout. March 19! The Employment Readiness Program offers a free Civilian Resume Class to teach you the various styles of resumes and how to customize your resume for the job you want. We will host the annual Uchee Creek ASA Archery Competition from 8am to 5pm March 21-24 at the Uchee Creek Archery Park. The cost is $12.50 for a single participants or $50 for a team of four. Buy, sell, trade! The Fort Benning Flea Market returns March 30, from 8am to 2pm on Stillwell Field across from the Post Office on Main Post. Vendors may reserve a 10’x10’ space for $15 or a 10’x20’ for $25. Tables are available for $8 and chairs for $1. This event is held the same day as the post-wide yard sale, it is open to the public, and there is no fee for admission. Expect thousands of shoppers from across the Chattahoochee Valley. Fort Benning will host a Military Long Drive Competition at 2pm April 2 for all active duty and retired service members and National Guard or Reserve Soldiers. This is one of 12 qualifiers held across the Army, all sanctioned by the World Long Drive Association. Winners from each of the 12 installations will compete at Fort Jackson May 5-7. The cost is $25 for eight balls. Participants may compete as many times as time allows. First prize for the qualifier is a $500 Pro Shop gift certificate and an all-expense paid trip to the finals and a shot at the $10,000 grand prize and an exemption into the Volvik World Log Drive Championship. CYS will host a limited number of free Georgia PreK classroom slots in 1st Division, McGraw and Santa Fe child development centers in the 2019-2020 school year. We select students using a lottery system.

We need volunteers! Fort Benning MWR will host the fifth annual Fort Benning Field Day for the Tri-Community Exceptional Children April 5. More than 1,200 students from all across the Chattahoochee Valley will participate in this event, which includes a great variety of fun and challenging activities, such as wheelchair races, bowling, kickball, soccer exercises, football and tennis ball throwing, a home run derby and so much more. Field Day activities start at 9am on York Field with a torch lighting ceremony.

Thereafter, games will take place on Stewart-Watson Field and in Smith Fitness Center. We value the volunteers who make this incredible opportunity a reality for these children. If you would like to volunteer, call 706-545-1853.

Two great events! Saturday, April 13, join us at 8am at Doughboy Stadium for the 5K Bunny Fun Run, the third race in the five-race 5K Fun Run Series. Each race earns participants one part of a five-piece “puzzle” medal set. The cost is $15 per race for adults and $10 for kids 5 and younger. (Mom and Dad can run with kids for free, or kids can run with parents free, no medal will be issues for participants who do not register. Courses are stroller friendly.) Then, at 10am, head over to the Riverside, the home of Fort Benning’s commanding general, at the intersection of Sigerfoos and Vibbert, where the Easter Bunny is waiting to take pictures with the little ones. The annual Spring Eggstravaganza is free to all MWR patrons and includes egg hunts for ages 18 months to 11 years, face painting, crafts and prizes.

The egg hunt schedule follows. Please note, one parent may accompany children between 18 months and 2 years during the hunt, but parents may not accompany children 3 and older. Russ Park is the only fishing spot on Fort Benning off limits to those 16 and older, but we make an exception during our popular Family Fishing Night, when we encourage parents to help the younger anglers reel ‘em in. Join us for the annual Teal Wheels car and bike show from 10am to 1pm April 27 at the PX Parking Lot on Marne Road. The SHARP and BOSS programs host this event, which is free, fun for the whole family and open to the public. CYS will host the annual Character Breakfast from 7:30 to 11;30am April 27 at the Benning Club in the Regimental Room. Guests will visit with their favorite superheroes, princesses and various cartoon characters. Come dressed as your favorite character; this event is fun for all ages! Aside from a breakfast buffet, guests will enjoy dancing, crafts and entertainment. Be sure to bring a camera! The cost is $25 for two, and $10 for each additional guest. Mother and Daughter Shoot

Pistol Shoot

Family Fishing Night, free!

Kayak the Hooch

Place: Outdoor Recreation

Price: $20 per person

Join Outdoor Recreation for a leisurely paddle seven miles down the Chattahoochee River. No previous experience is necessary and the group will paddle together. Participants will shoot five rounds at 100 yards in two minutes; five rounds at 200 yards in four minutes, and five rounds at 300 yards in six minutes. The cost includes gun rental and ammunition.
