Wednesday, October 16th, 2019

The Saber, Columbus State University’s campus newspaper, has been selected as one of the forty-one finalists for the 2019 Magazine Pacemaker Award.

“We are so excited to be nominated for the Pacemaker, especially since we were fortunate enough to win it last year,” states Saber Editor-in-Chief Ashely Peterson. “I am so proud of all of the work our staff did on the nominated issue.”

Each year, the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) presents scholastic journalism’s preeminent award, the Pacemaker. Entries are judged by teams of professionals based on the following criteria: coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership, design, photography and graphics. The Pacemaker winners will be revealed at the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention in Washington, D.C. from November 21st through November 24th, with special recognition given to all finalists during this time as well.
