CSU to Participate in Suicide Awareness Exhibit

Staff Report From Columbus CEO

Friday, November 1st, 2019

More than 1,000 empty backpacks will be displayed at Columbus State University’s clock tower on Monday as part of the Active Minds Send Silence Packing exhibit.

Organized by CSU’s Counseling Center, as part of the Cougars End Suicide Initiative, the exhibit seeks to increase awareness about suicide prevention. The 1,000 backpacks represent the number of college students lost to suicide each year. The exhibit will be displayed Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at CSU’s Clocktower.

The Send Silence Packing® exhibit has traveled the country to end the silence that surrounds mental health and suicide and connect visitors with resources for support and action. Since its inaugural display on the National Mall in Washington, DC in 2008, Send Silence Packing has reached approximately 946,710 visitors.
