CSU’s Schwob School of Music Shines at State Competition

Columbus State University’s Schwob School of Music was recently well represented at the Music Teachers National Association state competition. The competition took place at the University of West Georgia.

The following students were recognized.

• Maggie Archer, flutist and student of Dr. Andree Martin - alternate, Woodwind Performance Young Artist

• Dominic Bernard, oboist and student of Dr. Susan Tomkiewicz - honorable mention, Woodwind Performance Young Artist

• LarKarra Betha, vocalist and student of Professor Early Coleman - honorable mention, Voice Performance Young Artist

• Samuel Dufresne, trombonist and student of Dr. Bradley Palmer - alternate, Brass Performance Young Artist

• Anna Gribkova, Woodruff junior violinist and student of Professor Sergiu Schwartz - honorable mention, Young Artist Strings

• Travis Hall, vocalist and student of Professor Earl Coleman - honorable mention, Voice Performance Young Artist

• Thai Johnson, vocalist and student of Dr. Joshua May - winner, Voice Performance Young Artist, advancing to regionals

• Keyla Nunez, vocalist and student of Dr. Joshua May - alternate, Voice Performance Young Artist

• Nathaniel Parker, Woodruff freshman violinist and student of Professor Sergiu Schwartz - honorable mention, Senior Performance Strings

• Arutyun Piloyan, graduate violinist and student of Professor Sergiu Schwartz - honorable mention, Young Artist Strings

• Samuel Vargas, sophomore violinist and student of Professor Sergiu Schwartz - back-to-back winner, Young Artist Strings, advancing to regionals

• Brittany White, hornist and student of Dr. Anne-Marie Cherry - winner, Brass Performance Young Artist, advancing to regionals

• Hannah Wikaryasz, vocalist and student of Dr. Joshua May - honorable mention, Voice Performance Young Artist
