St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School names James Wilson as its Dean of Students, a new position created for the 2020-2021 school year and beyond. The purpose of the Dean of Students position is to monitor the academic progress and attendance of students in grades 8-12 at St. Anne-Pacelli. In addition, Mr. Wilson will support the school's faculty by developing classroom management programs, addressing student disciplinary issues, coordinating scheduling, as well as assisting the school's athletic director.

Mr. Wilson currently serves as the Central Region Zone Chief for the Muscogee County School District (MCSD) in Columbus, Ga. He's been a member of the MCSD District Cabinet for the past six years and will retire at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Prior to working in the school district's central office, Mr. Wilson was principal at Northside High School from 2007-2014 and principal at Midland Middle School from 2002 until 2007. Throughout his education career, he also has served as an assistant principal at Spencer High School and Admiral Moorer Middle School in Eufaula, Ala., and a teacher at Eufaula High School, Columbus High School and Shaw High School.

"My favorite aspect of being an educator is the opportunity it gives me to serve others, especially our teachers and students," says Mr. Wilson. "It is humbling to receive texts, calls and emails from former teachers, students and their parents to let me know the difference I have made in their lives. The Dean of Students position at St. Anne-Pacelli will afford me those same opportunities."

"The Dean of Students will be an essential part of our leadership team," says Ms. Veronica "Ronie" Collins, St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School President and High School Principal. "Mr. Wilson will be responsible for working closely with students, teachers and parents to maintain a positive school culture that promotes academic and character growth. We are thrilled that he will join our Viking family!"

"I'm most looking forward to getting to know the staff and students and building relationships with them," Mr. Wilson says. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to work in a school that is Christ-centered and where prayer is an integral part of the daily lives of the staff and students."
