Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) students will soon have more resources to support them in their college and career journey thanks to a federal grant. The College recently received notice that the U.S. Department of Education had awarded it a five-year $1.8 million Title III Grant.

The grant will be utilized to implement Project SENSE (Strategies to Enhance New Student Engagement). Project SENSE was designed with an overarching goal of enhancing student success, persistence, graduation and transfer rates through a comprehensive framework featuring success coaches, an enhanced first- year college experience, and support services for the highest-risks students at the College. The project will also provide tutoring enhancements, increased career pathways and early alert services.

Through this grant, the College will staff a department inclusive of a project coordinator, secretarial support, a student success/career coordinator, and two (2) success coaches.

“I am so excited at the potential that this project has for improving overall student success at the College,” said CVCC President Jackie Screws. “Oftentimes college students find it difficult to navigate the waters of determining what path is best for them. Occasionally they find themselves struggling in a particular class, but with the right safeguards in place, we are able to meet them where they are and help them get to where they want to be.”
