Phenix City Housing Authority Introduces New Executive Director

The Phenix City Housing Authority (PCHA) announced their new Executive Director, Dr. Jason Whitehead at a welcome reception today, Tuesday, November 10 , 2020 in the Troy University Chattahoochee Campus Atrium.

Dr. Whitehead comes to PCHA from Youngstown, Ohio, where he was the Chief Executive Director for the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority. He was responsible for Public Housing in Mahoning County managing over 1,200 housing units, 2,000 housing choice vouchers, he was responsible for housing over 7,000 residents in Mahoning County and contributing over 10 million dollars to the local economy through the various agency programs.

Dr. Whitehead assumes the chief executive office of Executive Director of the Phenix City Housing Authority and related non-profit entities including a $4.4 million annual operating budget. He will oversee 745 public housing units with 1584 residents and 960 vouchers. He will also serve as Secretary-Treasurer to the board and manage our ongoing work in redevelopment and long-range planning. His first major task will be to review the Choice Neighborhood Implementation grant application for the Fred Douglas community.

“Dr. Whitehead was clearly in the top tier of candidates and our first choice among the finalists for this position” said PCHA Board Chair, Steve Pace. “We were particularly impressed with the breadth and success of his leadership experience in public housing, governmental affairs, economic development and resident relations.”

The full board of five members served as the Search Committee. Rev. Noble Williams Co-Chaired the committee with Pace. “Dr. Whitehead is an energetic, warm and personable servant leader that we have very much enjoyed getting to know and we invite our greater community to do the same. We welcome him to Phenix City and the Chattahoochee Valley with great expectations for continued progress and communitypartnerships all across our community.”
