The Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus (YOGC) will be hosting its annual Beethoven 5K fundraiser race on Saturday, June 11th beginning and ending at Woodruff Park on the Chattahoochee River Walk. The race will start at 8:00AM. Registration for the race is $30 for in-person racers and $25 for virtual racers; racers can register at www.runsignup.com/Race/GA/Columbus/YOGC5K.

There will be awards for the following categories: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall; top 1 individual in the following age groups: under 14, 15-19, and10-year age groups up to 60+ for male and female. Racers who register before May 30th will be guaranteed a free t-shirt with their swag bag for finishing the race.

For those racers that like a time motivator, Beethoven's unmistakable 5th Symphony takes about 33 minutes, 32 seconds to play, making it a great goal to train for and compete against. The optional virtual nature of the race also means that you don't have to be local to participate, making it more accessible to those that want to support YOGC and run the 5K but are not local to Columbus and cannot race in-person.

“Dun dun dun duuun, dun dun dun duuun! We’re all familiar with the opening of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony. Test yourself in a race against the clock to finish before Beethoven does—word has it the man himself will be present. You don’t need to be in town to participate in this event. Our virtual option makes it possible for anyone to join in. So share with you family and friends, far and near, about the wonderful fundraising challenge to support the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus. We look forward to seeing you on the race course!”- Christopher Walton, Interim Executive Director, YOGC.
