CVCC Inducts Thirty-Two Students Into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society

On Wednesday, April 3, thirty-two (32) outstanding students were honored at Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) as they were inducted into the distinguished Alpha Theta Rho chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. This year's induction ceremony showcased the diverse and remarkable academic accomplishments of CVCC's student community.

Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is a two-year college's premier international honor society. It emphasizes academic excellence, leadership development, and community service. With a legacy that spans over a century, the society now boasts more than 3.5 million members across nearly 1,300 chapters worldwide.

To qualify for induction, students must complete at least 12 credit hours of college-level coursework and achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. This year's inductees, showcasing a diverse array of talents and academic dedication, are De’Andre Arnold, Natasha Beining, Kamryn Brooks, Robin Brown, Kayln Coleman, Shunyah Graham, Ashley Grantham, Lauren Haines, Chase Hays, Christian Hays, Susan Holmes, JaNiah Hoskins, Leslie Jenkins, Jayla Lancaster, Desiree Lipscomb, Jessieca Long, Crystal Lopez, Isis Lovelace, Silvia Aguilar Paiz, David Renteria, KaMaiyah Russell, Amelie Song, Jaqueline Soto, Christina Stephenson, Anna Strong, Shania Thomas, Heather Waites, Matthew Ward, Tanaya Williams, Eric Wilson, Haley Wilson, and Sarah Wilson. 

The induction ceremony was a gathering of CVCC's faculty, staff, administrators, and the inductees' families and friends. The event featured the time-honored tradition of signing the pledge book, lighting candles, and presenting the new members with Phi Theta Kappa's symbolic golden key emblem, a white rose, and a membership certificate.

Associate Dean Vickie Williams congratulated the inductees and welcomed them to the society: "It is my pleasure to welcome you into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the lively fellowship of scholars it affords. I salute you for your accomplishments. I charge you always to seek truth and dedicate yourselves to cultivating the well-reasoned life, a prelude to service and honor."

This year's induction celebrates these students' achievements and marks a significant milestone in CVCC's participation in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. It underscores the college's commitment to academic excellence and support for student success in all facets of their educational journey.
