Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, April 5th, 2024

RiverCenter presents the classic silent film Wings with organist Ron Carter on THE WAVE theatre organ on Saturday, May 4, 7:30 PM.

In Wings, two young men, one rich, one middle class, who are in love with the same woman, become fighter pilots in World War I. The film stars Clara Bow, Richard Arlen, Charles “Buddy” Rogers, and Gary Cooper in a small role that launched his Hollywood career. The romantic/action/war picture is known for winning the first Academy Award for Best Picture in 1927. The film was the first to shoot live aerial dogfights, utilizing cameras mounted in the rear cockpits of planes. The resulting footage was described as “spectacular” and “hair-raising.”

Organist Ron Carter returns to RiverCenter to provide the movie’s soundtrack with all the action, suspense and drama of war entwined with a romantic rivalry that ends in a shocking turn of fate.
