Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley Installs New Board Members

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley (BGCCV) recently held its annual board meeting at the Columbus Country Club, Thursday, July 17, 2014. During the meeting, BGCCV installed three new Board members: Fred Maglione, President of Omega Financial; Matthew Mansfield, Senior Manager of Regulatory Compliance at Aflac; and Eric Tikkanen, Market President with BB&T. 

In addition to installing new Board members, community partners were recognized for their dedication to the organization. Custom Radio was recognized with the Helping Hand Award, as they have assisted BGCCV with significant donations to help at special events that include the Women’s Giving Circle Luncheon and The Annual Upatoi Polo Cup. The Champion of Youth Award was awarded to Omega Financial for their continual support throughout the year including in-kind donations of computer servers, adopting a family during the holidays and their IT Department hosting an annual fundraiser for the organization. 

Long-standing Board members, Wade Burford, President of CB&T of East Alabama, and Bill Reaves, owner of Containers by Reaves, were recognized with the National Service to Youth Award signifying thirty years of Board service to BGCCV and the members here in the Chattahoochee Valley.

Additionally, Julie Stark was recognized with the Rookie Board Member Award for all of her contributions during her first year of serving as a Board member. Julie has helped in every facet of the organization this past year from assisting with administrative tasks to spearheading the inaugural Youth of the Year event as well as a Host Committee member for the Women’s Giving Circle.  Heath Schondelmayer from CB&T was also awarded the High Performing Board Member Award for exceeding Board member responsibilities and contributions during the past year. Heath played a significant role in securing sponsorships and support for the Upatoi Polo Cup, Youth of the Year and the Women’s Giving Circle.

Finally, two BGCCV employees were acknowledged for their dedication within the clubs and were presented with the Youth Development Professionals of the Year Awards. This year’s full time recipient was Senior Teen Director of the North Club, Tiffany Lipscomb, and the part-time recipient was, Robbin Reed, Education Specialist at the J. Barnett Woodruff South Club.
