Stan Hickson, MHA, FACHE, joins Columbus Regional Health Jan. 21 as President of Northside Medical Center. He comes to Columbus Regional Health following leadership positions in Washington, D.C., South Carolina and Virginia.

Hickson previously served as Executive Partner for Crimson, the D.C.-based Advisory Board Company’s data analytics product for clinical quality and cost efficiency. He worked closely with hospital and health system leadership and physicians in member organizations to ensure they were fully leveraging their investment in the Crimson product.

Prior positions included Acute Care Executive/Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, S.C., following three years as that organization’s Vice President of Operations. He previously served in positions of increasing responsibility with HCA Inc., including Chief Operating Officer for HCA-Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg, Va.

“While interviewing with us, Stan met with board members, physicians, senior leaders and employees. Based on their feedback, he is clearly a great fit for our organization,” said M. Scott Hill, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer for Columbus Regional Health. “I have full confidence he will help lead Northside Medical Center to new heights in the coming months and years.”

Northside Medical Center, Columbus Regional Health’s acute care hospital on Veterans Parkway, has a long history of clinical quality and customer satisfaction. It plans to add a new emergency department and expand its intensive care unit in coming months. The Georgia Department of Community Health approved a certificate of need (CON) application for the project in July 2014. St. Francis Hospital presently is appealing the CON for the project, which will expand health and medical services for the growing areas of North Columbus and Harris County.

“My family and I are delighted to make Columbus our new home,” Hickson said. “We are impressed with the community and the warm welcome from everyone we have met,” he added. “I am excited about working with Scott and his team, the medical staff at Northside and the wonderful employees that have such a strong commitment to the hospital. We have great plans for Northside Medical Center, and we have an outstanding team in place to implement those plans,” he said.

A South Carolina native, Hickson holds an undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston and Master of Health Administration from Medical University of South Carolina. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Hickson and his wife, Alice-Lyle, have three children – Davis, Julia and William.
