The Center of Innovation for Manufacturing, a program of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, is using university-led research to help the manufacturing industry throughout Georgia develop new products and processes.

Georgia’s Unemployment Rate Rises to 5.5%

The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in March was 5.5 percent, up one-tenth of a percentage point from 5.4 percent in February. The rate was 6.2 percent in March 2015.

Two Columbus Projects Winners of the Knight Cities Challenge

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation today announced that 37 innovative projects will share $5 million as winners of the Knight Cities Challenge. Each of the ideas centers on helping cities attract and keep talented people, expand economic opportunities and create a culture of civic engagement. Columbus had two projects represented: Evolving Midtown and Urban Glen.

Columbus State University Becomes First University in Nation to be RightPath Certified

With the completion of RightPath’s two-day workshop, Columbus State University became the first university in the nation certified to deliver RightPath tools to external businesses. Facilitators at the Leadership Institute at Columbus State University are now able to use RightPath’s comprehensive array of solutions and online assessment tools for both individuals and teams.
