  • Synovus Ranked Most Reputable Bank in the U.S. in American Banker’s Survey of Bank Reputations

    Synovus has been named “Most Reputable Bank” in the U.S. in the annual Survey of Bank Reputations conducted by Reputation Institute and published by American Banker. Of 42 banks included in the survey, Synovus ranked first overall, first among non-customers and in the top ten among customers. Synovus ranked second overall in 2016.

    Columbus State University recently held its sixth annual Business Plan Competition, hosted by the Turner College of Business. Fifty-one plans were submitted to this year’s competition. Six finalists were selected to share more details of their business plans with a panel of judges, and three finalists were selected.

  • Aflac President Paul Amos Leaving the Company

    Aflac announced that Paul S. Amos, II has resigned from his position as President of Aflac and from the Board of Directors of Aflac Incorporated to join a private equity firm, effective July 1st. Dan Amos, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, is assuming the title of President of Aflac and associated responsibilities. Additional responsibilities will be shared by select members of the executive management team in Japan and the U.S.

    The Georgia Construction Outlook Survey indicates that 86 percent of the state’s privately held construction companies project a revenue increase over the prior year. The survey, released on Tuesday, was conducted by Kennesaw State University’s Construction Management Department in cooperation with Bennett Thrasher, one of the country’s largest full-service certified public accounting and consulting firms.

    Columbus Technical College and Valdosta State University have entered into a partnership designed to increase the number of West Georgians pursuing and earning advanced training and education. The signing of the Pathways Program last Wednesday made VSU the first University System of Georgia institution of higher education to sign articulation agreements with all 22 colleges in the Technical College System of Georgia.
