Deserving Columbus Technical College students will be the stars of the show at the annual REACH for the Stars scholarship event Wednesday morning, September 18 at 10:00 in the College’s McCaulley Auditorium in Carl Patrick Hall. More than 50 students will be awarded scholarships in dozens of program areas to include: radiologic technology, nursing, automotive technology, funeral service, business technology, IT, early childhood education, culinary arts, EMS, manufacturing, and many more. Community-oriented scholarships to honor veterans, local leaders, and philanthropists will also be distributed.
Depending on the requirements of the particular award, the money may be used for program-related expenses such as tuition or fees, exam costs, or even essential tools.
“The REACH for the Stars event is the perfect opportunity for us to celebrate both our students and our generous donors,” said Interim President Martha Ann Todd. “When earning a scholarship, our students are not only able to remove financial obstacles, but they also gain confidence in themselves. As a result, they are more likely to be successful in their workforce education and training programs.”
News anchor for WRBL, Teresa Whitaker, will emcee the red carpet event. After the program, attendees will be treated to a special reception complete with refreshments by Columbus Tech’s culinary arts students and faculty.
