Wednesday, January 19th, 2022
Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers (Goodwill) and Piedmont Columbus Regional are pleased to announce a new partnership designed to provide preventive health screenings to individuals at select Goodwill locations.
This partnership serves as a pilot for a much larger initiative through which Goodwill and regional health care providers plan to provide free preventive health screenings and education at Goodwill locations throughout west Georgia and east Alabama.
“Through this partnership with Piedmont, we are taking the first step in our GoodHealth Initiative which we believe will be a responsible and valuable investment for the communities we serve,” said Tricia Llewellyn Konan, Vice President of Mission Services for Goodwill. “Our goal is to provide free preventive screenings for critical indicators such as blood pressure because we know that early diagnosis is key to avoiding heart attack and stroke. The service will be free and available to anyone, regardless of insurance status.”
The Piedmont Mobile Unit is scheduled to be on-site at the following Goodwill Retail Store locations:
-
January 20th from 12:00 – 3:30 @ Goodwill Retail Store, 3201 Macon Road
-
February 17th from 12 – 3:30 @ Goodwill Retail Store, 3201 Macon Road
-
March 17th from 12:00 – 3:30 @ Goodwill Retail Store, 3201 Macon Road
“The mission of the Piedmont Columbus Regional Mobile Unit is to provide compassionate, high-quality healthcare to our underserved and indigent populations in the neighborhoods where they are,” said Melonese Close, Community Outreach manager for Piedmont Columbus Regional.
Konan added, “If the screenings reveal issues, we stand ready to connect these individuals to available resources within the Piedmont organization. We believe this service will save lives.”
