2022 Piedmont Classic, Driven by Mercedes-Benz of Columbus
Friday, April 22nd, 2022
The Piedmont Columbus Regional Foundation is excited to announce the 2022 Piedmont Classic - Driven by Mercedes-Benz of Columbus. The events will be held on April 22, 23, and 25 at Cooper Creek Tennis Center and the Country Club of Columbus.
Held over three action-packed days - avid tennis, pickleball, and golf players in the Chattahoochee Valley have the opportunity to pair up with the championship Columbus State University tennis team, and pickleball and golf professionals for a day of top-notch instruction and friendly competition. New to the Classic is “Pickle for Piedmont” benefitting The Children’s Hospital at Piedmont Columbus Regional.
“Mercedes-Benz of Columbus is honored and appreciative of the partnership with Piedmont Healthcare for the 2022 Piedmont Classic. This year is especially meaningful to all of us who have experienced firsthand the struggle in dealing with how cancer takes away lives and livelihoods. The care and compassion shown by those who provide care at the John B. Amos Cancer Center is amazing and we want to be involved in the fight to one day eradicate this terrible disease. The wound of the loss of our owner, friend, father and husband, Mark Clayton, will never fully heal, but this partnership helps us contribute to the cause with strength and optimism for the future,” said Ashley and Jessica Clayton, and the Mercedes-Benz of Columbus family.
The Piedmont Classic was founded over 27 years ago to benefit the John B. Amos Cancer Center and the patients we serve. As the only comprehensive cancer center in the region, it is a place where patients receive compassionate care with access to the region’s finest clinicians, advanced treatments, and cutting-edge technology – here at home, close to family, friends, and loved ones.
“The event raised a combined total of $268,000 in 2020 and 2021 to help purchase new Varian Linear Accelerators – the next generation of radiological cancer treatment for the TSYS Radiation Oncology Center at the John B. Amos Cancer Center. This year, the Piedmont Classic will focus our fundraising efforts to help purchase a new CT scanner,” said Aline Lasseter, Executive Director of the Piedmont Columbus Regional Foundation.
The Children’s Hospital at Piedmont Columbus Regional has been affiliated with the Children’s Miracle Network since 1995. Along with being the region’s only facility dedicated to the unique care of infants and children, we are the only dedicated children’s hospital within the Piedmont family, meaning we are setting the bar for childcare across the state of Georgia. The funds raised during “Pickle for Piedmont” will support new life-saving equipment, patient and family programs, the area’s only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department.
While this is a weekend of fun and fellowship, know that your support directly benefits the John B. Amos Cancer Center and The Children’s Hospital. The Piedmont Columbus Regional Foundation is honored to partner with Mercedes-Benz of Columbus to provide the best care possible for our community.
