Piedmont Columbus Regional has welcomed its second group of paid student workers into the organization through the Piedmont Futures program. The 20 new employees will be working in Environmental Services, Visitor Greeting, Imaging Services, Nursing, Nutrition Services and Respiratory Therapy.

Launched in February 2023, Piedmont Futures creates opportunities for students to pursue an entry-level job while still in high school. Upon graduation, student workers can continue working in the positions or continue their studies in college.

Piedmont Futures is in partnership with the Muscogee County Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education program. Piedmont Columbus Regional’s hiring of students helps improve workforce development.

“Just like across the nation, health care is in high demand in Columbus and offers a large number of job openings every year, said Piedmont Columbus Regional Community Outreach Manager Melonese Close. “The workforce development initiative hopes to encourage students to advance their careers within the health care arena.“
