Piedmont Columbus Regional Matches with New Residents

Piedmont Columbus Regional will add 12 doctors and eight pharmacists to its roster this summer.
The new Family Medicine residents who will join Piedmont Columbus on July 1 are:

“We are thrilled these new residents will be coming to Columbus to continue their medical training at Piedmont,” said Director of Medical Education and Family Medicine Residency Program John Bucholtz, D.O. “We are pleased to provide the foundation for a successful career as a practicing physician while continuing to fulfill our mission to provide high-quality care for the community.”
Family Medicine residents enjoy the support of all major medical specialties, while providing patient care of the highest skill and sophistication. Core clinical rotations include Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Intensive Care Unit, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology and Pediatrics.
With those onboarding this summer, Piedmont Columbus Regional will employ 36 residents. When established in 1972, the Family Medicine Residency Program at Piedmont Columbus Midtown became the first of its kind in Georgia and one of the first in the Southeastern United States. More than 1,000 physicians have graduated from Piedmont Columbus Midtown going back to physician training that began in the 1940s.

“Through patient care, practice management, research and other various pharmaceutical practice training segments, the Pharmacy Residency Program instills a philosophy of practice that embraces pharmacists being responsible and accountable for optimum drug therapy outcomes,” said PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director Jamie Crossman, PharmD.
Residents will complete core rotations in the areas of Ambulatory Care, Central Distribution, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Pediatrics/Neonatology, Practice Management and Transitional Care Clinic.
