Columbus Airport Commission Announces Leadership Realignment to Position Airport for Future Growth
Tuesday, August 18th, 2026
The Columbus Airport Commission today announced a strategic leadership structure that positions Columbus Airport for its next phase of growth reinforcing its commitment to professional leadership, continuous education, and informed decision-making in support of the airport's long-term success.
As part of this transition, Amber Clark, A.A.E., who has served as Airport Director, will move into the newly developed position of Senior Director where she will focus on advancing strategic growth initiatives, commercial partnerships, customer experience, marketing, community engagement, business, air service and organizational development.
Since joining the Columbus Airport Commission, Clark has led significant improvements, including the successful completion of the Runway 6-24 reconstruction project, major infrastructure investments, stronger airline partnerships, and initiatives that have enhanced airport operations, economic development, and the overall passenger experience.
"This transition reflects where we believe the future of the Columbus Airport is headed,” said Commissioner Dee Marsh, Chair of the Columbus Airport Commission.
“Amber has been instrumental in advancing the airport over the past several years, and dedicating executive leadership to growth and strategic development will allow us to build on that momentum while continuing to enhance the passenger experience.
The Commission will begin a nationwide search for a new Executive Director to lead the airport's day- to-day operations and execution of its strategic initiatives. To ensure the highest caliber of candidates, the Commission will engage a nationally recognized executive search firm specializing in airport leadership recruitment.
"This is not simply about filling a position," said Marsh. "We are committed to pursuing opportunities that will benefit our community for years to come and help the airport reach its full potential. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to building on the strong foundation already established while bringing the very best leadership to Columbus.
The new organizational structure reflects the Commission's commitment to strong leadership, operational excellence, and responsible financial management. It positions the airport to adapt to industry changes, pursue new opportunities, attract investment, and continue providing outstanding service to passengers, tenants, and the community.
Clark expressed excitement about focusing on the airport's long-term growth and future opportunities.
"I am excited for this next chapter," said Clark. “This new role allows me to focus on growing the airport, strengthening partnerships, enhancing the customer experience, and supporting our outstanding team. I look forward to working alongside our future Executive Director as we continue moving Columbus Airport forward."
The Commission's has also participated in a comprehensive board training led by nationally recognized aviation expert Dr. Kimberly A. Kenville, Ph.D., C.M., who provided an in-depth understanding of airport governance, fiduciary responsibilities, and industry best practices. The training reinforced the importance of distinguishing day-to-day operational management from long-term strategic leadership, leading the Commission to determine that restructuring the executive leadership model would strengthen organizational effectiveness, enhance the airport's ability to pursue future opportunities, and ensure the continued delivery of exceptional service to the community.
Airports operate in one of the nation's most highly regulated industries, requiring oversight of federal compliance, infrastructure, financial stewardship, economic development, and public safety. Through progressive strategic priorities, the Columbus Airport Commission continues to strengthen its leadership and support informed decision-making.
The Commission expects to begin the executive search in the coming weeks and will provide updates throughout the process.
