Site Selection Ranks Georgia No. 1 for Business for Fifth Straight Year

Nathan Deal announced that Georgia has been named the No. 1 state in the nation in which to do business for the fifth consecutive year by Site Selection, a leading economic development trade magazine. According to Site Selection, Georgia is the first state to hold this ranking for five consecutive years under the same governor.

Columbus Regional Health & Piedmont Healthcare One Step Closer to Affiliation

The proposed affiliation agreement between Columbus Regional Health and Piedmont Healthcare that was announced in May moved another step closer to official approval. Columbus Regional Health and Piedmont Healthcare have reached an agreement that memorializes the letter of intent approved earlier this year. The next step will be a filing with the Attorney General, which is planned for November.

Georgia Quick Start Again Named Number One Workforce Training Program in the U.S.

Georgia Quick Start, a division of the Technical College System of Georgia, has once again been voted the number one workforce training program in the U.S., according to a survey conducted by Area Development magazine, a trade publication for professional site locators. The magazine has conducted its survey of site professionals for eight years, and this marks the eighth consecutive time Quick Start was voted the best workforce training program in the country.

Technical College System of Georgia Extends State’s Workforce Development Ties with Germany

Leaders of the Bavarian State Ministry for Education, Culture and Science and the Technical College System of Georgia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that establishes a partnership giving Georgia and German students expanded educational opportunities. TCSG Commissioner Gretchen Corbin and Georg Eisenreich, the Bavarian ministry’s State Secretary, signed the MOU in a ceremony held Sept. 26th in Munich.

Jobs Up, Unemployment Rate Down in Columbus in August

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said today that metro Columbus’ unemployment and jobs picture looked bright in August. Butler said that in August the unemployment rate was just 5.7 percent, unemployment claims fell and job growth continued to climb.
