Columbus Technical College, Valdosta State University Sign Major Articulation Agreement

Columbus Technical College and Valdosta State University have entered into a partnership designed to increase the number of West Georgians pursuing and earning advanced training and education. The signing of the Pathways Program last Wednesday made VSU the first University System of Georgia institution of higher education to sign articulation agreements with all 22 colleges in the Technical College System of Georgia.

Metro Columbus’ Unemployment Rate Declines to 5.4% in April

The Georgia Department of Labor announced that Metro Columbus’ unemployment rate in April was 5.4 percent, down four-tenths of a percentage point from 5.8 percent in March. In April 2016, the rate was 6 percent.

United Way Awards Funding to 58 Local Programs and Recognizes Volunteers

United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley announced the results of the 2017 Community Investment Volunteer Review and recognized the dedication of 65 individuals who served as volunteers. The funding recommendations of the Community Investment Volunteers were presented to the United Way Board of Directors and unanimously approved. United Way will award funding to 58 local programs through 29 agencies in the upcoming fiscal year.

Google Spurs $4.68B in Economic Activity for Georgia

The report also featured state-specific data, including information for Georgia. Last year, the tech giant helped produce more than $4.68 billion for the state’s economy — the ninth-highest among all 50 states.
