The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. BGCCV has had a productive year in developing the qualities its members need to become those responsible citizens and leaders. 

In just one year, BGCCV has increased its success figures in three targeted program areas: Academic Success and Career Development, Healthy Lifestyles and Character and Leadership. Boys & Girls Clubs of America has included these three programs in the Formula for Impact. This Formula focuses on the young people who need them most with the addition of high-yield learning club experiences that ultimately produce improvements in the three, key program areas. 

In 2013, the Academic Success and Career Development program area had several key components of the program with impressive improvements:

• 11 point increase to 91% of members being promoted to the next grade level;
• 10 point increase in learning basic use of Microsoft Office Suite with 60% of members doing so;
• A 15 point increase in members meeting or exceeding standards in earning a ‘C’ or better each academic semester with 95% of its members falling into this category.

The Academic Success and Career Development program helps our members to graduate from high school, prepare to face their future, whether it is college, trade school, certificate program, military or employment. The programs and opportunities encourage life-long learning, goal setting and access to tools, mentors and resources that encourage academic success.

The Healthy Lifestyles program saw similar successes this year. 

• 5 point increase in committing to healthy living with 90% of members participating;
• 95% of members report zero or reduced risky sexual behaviors in the abstinence program.

Healthy Lifestyles helps members adopt a healthy diet, practice good lifestyle choices, and be committed to physical fitness. Activities are offered for individuals, small groups, and large groups to enjoy all of the components that demonstrate a healthy lifestyle. Club members are encouraged to get up, get moving, and make a difference in their own health.

The Character and Leadership program did not fall short on improvements.

• 15 point increase in avoiding contact with the juvenile justice system at 90%;
• 80% learned the importance of making good decisions;
• 100% displayed positive engagement in the community through community service. 

The Character and Leadership program helps the youth become responsible, caring citizens who acquire skills for participating in the democratic process. They also develop leadership skills and provide opportunities for planning, decision-making, contributing to Club and community and celebrating the organization’s national heritage

The Formula for Impact will continue to be a staple in the Clubs to ensure GREAT FUTURES for the youth in the Chattahoochee Valley. BGCCV will continue to provide a world-class Club Experience that assures every child who walks through its doors has the opportunity to reach their goals and be successful.
