Columbus Regional Medical Foundation Announces Final Fundraising Total for 2014 Scott's Ride for Miracles

The 2014 Scott's Ride for Miracles benefiting Children's Miracle Network at the Midtown Medical Center raised $215,500, the Columbus Regional Medical Foundation announced Tuesday. This updated total includes donations that were collected on the motorcycle trip, sponsorships, and from their website. Anyone can make a donation to the 2014 Scott's Ride for Miracles by logging onto the event's website at www.rideformiracles.com.

To date, Scott's Ride for Miracles has raised more than $865,000 to purchase equipment for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Children's Hospital at Midtown Medical Center. The ultimate goal is to raise $1 million over the course of the Ride.

On Friday, May 2, Scott Ressmeyer, co-owner of Country's Barbecue, and 15 friends boarded their motorcycles at Midtown Medical Center and embarked upon a 21-day, 48-state, 9,000-mile journey to raise awareness and money for the needs and services supported by Children's Miracle Network at The Medical Center. This was the sixth year for the ride. 

Joining Ressmeyer, were Rick Stinson, Brian Brock, Kevin Simms, James Leatherwood and Billy Edmundson, all of Columbus, Ga.; James Cole, Brad Hansen, David McNeil and Steve Tennant, fromMidland, Ga.; Mike Jolley, Hamilton, Ga.; Mike Langford and Ken Tidwell from Cataula, Ga.; Gary McDowell, Manchester, Ga.; Mike Cunningham, Opelika, Ala.; and Ronnie Wilson, Salem, Ala.

The presenting sponsors for Scott's Ride for Miracles were Chattahoochee/Big Swamp Harley-Davidson. Other sponsors include Country's Barbecue, Neonatology Associates, TSYS, Aflac, Mercedes-Benz of Columbus, Uptown Columbus, Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau, andColumbus Tape and Video.

All of the riders have posted final blogs on the ride's website www.rideformiracles.com. In addition, a video encapsulating the ride has been uploaded since the riders' return.

The 2015 Scott's Ride for Miracles will be May 1 – 22, 2014. This will be the final ride for Scott and his friends and the ride will only be open to the 31 previous riders who have participated in the last 6 years.
