23 Georgia Military College Columbus Students attended a leadership training retreat at GMC’s main campus in Milledgeville, GA, July 24-25.

Leadership skills, teamwork, and trust were developed as the students worked to overcome mental and physical challenges, including an eight-station Leader Reaction Obstacle Course.

Students were selected to attend based on their involvement in student organizations and activities, desire to learn more about leadership, and demonstrated goals for the school. Members from the Student Honor Council, Ethics Bowl Team, Student Government Association, Phi Theta Kappa Academic Honor Society, and Student Ambassador Scholarship Program were in attendance.

Stephanie Cavalier of Columbus, a General Studies major, called the retreat “an edifying experience,” adding that she particularly enjoyed learning how to “be the leader you wish you had.” Cavalier also enjoyed the obstacle course, observing that “it was amazing how willing [her] group was to work together to accomplish the goal.”
