The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), the state’s leading association dedicated to the promotion and economic advancement of Georgia’s technology industry, in partnership with the Metro Atlanta Chamber, today announced that it will host its first ever, Mobility Live Hack-Back Invitational which will be held on August 19th and run until September 17th.
The event is expected to draw teams of programmers from across the nation to compete for $30,000 in cash and prizes, while helping to give (hack) back to three of the nation’s leading non-profit organizations: American Cancer Society, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Points of Light /Hands on Network.
“Georgia is not only a major center for mobility innovation, but a number of national non-profit organizations are based here too,” said Tino Mantella, TAG President/CEO. “This event promises to bring out the best in both areas and I encourage hackers in the region and around the country to participate.”
Teams will develop mobility solutions from a list of challenges provided by each of the participating non-profits. After a preliminary judging on September 19th, selected Hack-Back finalists will present their projects on stage at the Mobility LIVE conference in Atlanta on September 23rd. Judges will include representatives from the participating non-profits, mobility industry leadership, and investors.
“Atlanta has emerged as a global hub for one of the hottest, fastest-growing sectors of technology today – mobility,” said Mike Zeto, Director of Corporate Development and M&A, AT&T Mobility and co-chair of the Metro Atlanta Chamber Mobility Task Force and the Mobility Live co-chair. “A national hackathon combined with more than 1,200 Mobility Live attendees will make for a great vibe during Atlanta’s premier mobility event.”
Mobility Live Hack-Back Invitational is held in conjunction with the 2nd annual Mobility LIVE conference, which brings together key thought leaders and decision makers in the areas of mobile technology standards, strategies and innovations. Confirmed Speakers for the conference, which will be September 23rd and 24th, include Alan Dabbiere of AirWatch, Ralph De La Vega of AT&T Mobility, and Chris McClellen of The Weather Channel.
