St. Francis Welcomes New Chief Financial Officer

Greg Hembree, CPA, FHFMA, has been named chief financial officer at St. Francis. Greg joined the hospital August 4. He brings with him 20 years of financial leadership experience as the chief financial officer at South Georgia Medical Center (SGMC) in Valdosta, Ga. SGMC is a 380-bed medical center with three campuses, including a 287-bed hospital on its main campus, a 45-bed acute care facility, and a 48-bed psychiatric hospital.

Among his many achievements, Greg provided financial leadership in the acquisition and integration of a 45-bed for-profit hospital. He has also played key roles in the acquisition of a 70-bed, freestanding psychiatric hospital and a hospital/nursing home facility. He was a key leader in the planning and implementation of a major campus expansion, including a new patient tower, imaging center, new emergency department, ambulatory surgical center and medical office building.

While at SGMC, Greg served as chair of the IT Steering Committee charged with strategic oversight of the center’s information technology initiatives. He provided leadership in planning a meaningful use strategy for the organization.

Previously, Greg was a controller for Presbyterian Homes, a long-term care organization with campuses in south Georgia and Atlanta.

Greg earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Troy State University in Troy, Ala., and his master’s degree in business administration from Valdosta State University in Valdosta. He is a certified public accountant and a fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA).
