The Columbus Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is pleased to present Vivaldi’s Four Seasons on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in Legacy Hall at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.

This special Champagne and Dessert Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and features CSO violinist Boris Abramov. The concert will open with the orchestra performing Vivalid’s Sinfonia for Strings in C Major followed by an extended intermission for patrons to enjoy champagne and specialty desserts. The second portion of the concert will feature Vivaldi’s Four Seasons: La Primavera (Spring), L’Estate (Summer), L’Autunno (Autumn), and L’Inverno (Winter). Tickets are $30 general admission and may be purchased at the RiverCenter Box Office, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or one hour prior to the performance (enter doors located on Broadway side under covered drive to visit the box office.) CSO Music Director and Conductor George Del Gobbo commented, “Antonio Vivaldi was, perhaps, the most famous Italian composer of the musical period called ‘Baroque’.  He wrote dozens of operas and an amazing amount of instrumental music, much of which is in the form of the concerto. The most famous of these is a collection of four concerti for violin and strings called ‘The Four Seasons’.  They describe in sound the various characteristics of each season such as birds singing, drunken goatherds, barking dogs, hunters, and children sliding on ice.” 

Del Gobbo is particularly excited about featuring violinist Boris Abramov stating “Boris is a young Israeli violinist of incredible talent.  His playing is marked by a musicality and passion that set him apart.  He currently is a resident of Columbus and works for both the Schwob School of Music and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. This concert marks his debut as a soloist with the CSO.”
