Area supporters of Fort Benning get a chance to ask questions about possible Army cuts during a Community Listening Session scheduled for early next year, a post official said.
The session is set for Feb. 18 at the Columbus Convention & Trade Center to consider questions on plans calling for nearly 11,000 military and civilian jobs cut at the post. The session is held seven months after a Supplemental Programmatic Environmental Assessment said the post may possibly lose 10,767 jobs, including 9,493 soldiers and 1,274 civil service employees as the Army reduces its force from 490,000 soldiers to 420,000 by the year 2020.cts would be a concern because they affect communities around military installations. An analysis of the socioeconomic impacts will be available to inform communities and decision makers.
