Last week, N’Zier Bohannon was named the Boys & Girls Club of the Chattahoochee Valley’s 2015 Youth of the Year. Eighteen year old Bohannon is an extraordinary young man recognized for his exceptional performance in school, leadership qualities, determination, and role in the community. Upon being named the 2015 Youth of the Year, Bohannon was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from the John B. Woodruff, Jr. Scholarship Fund. The three runner-ups were Austin Leathers, Aysia Miles, and Esmael Soto, who were also awarded a $1,000 college scholarship.

Through February 22 and 24 of 2015, Bohannon will compete against other Boys & Girls Club members from across Georgia for the Youth of the Year state title. At this level, the 2015 BGCCV’s 2015 Youth of the Year will vie to win an additional $1,000 in college scholarships and a chance to win the Southeast Region Youth of the Year. If selected as one of five regional finalists, Bohannon then moves on to the National competition where finalists have a chance to meet the President of the United States and win an additional $50,000 in college scholarships.

As Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier youth program, Youth of the Year recognizes outstanding contributions to a member’s family, school, community, and Boys & Girls Club, as well as overcoming personal challenges and obstacles. The Youth of the Year program encourages Club members to reach their full potential by achieving academic success, leading healthy lifestyles, and making significant contributions to their communities.

As a senior at Hardaway High School, Bohannon exhibits exemplary Youth of the Year qualities. Post-graduation, he plans to attend Georgia Southern University to pursue his dreams of becoming a computer technician and run track for the school’s track and field team.

The 2015 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was also held during the Youth of the Year celebration. Mr. Phil Tomlinson was inducted as the BGCCV Club Alumni and Mr. John Flournoy was recognized as the Service to the Youth inductee.
