Fort Benning Will Be X factor in Area Economy

The economic prospects for metro Columbus look reasonably bright for the rest of this year … or maybe not.
That's the report from the Selig Center for Economic Growth at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business, and the uncertainty of the forecast is more than just a matter of economic prognosticators hedging their bets.
Rather, it depends mostly on whether a very large shoe -- or rather, to make the metaphor more specific, an Infantry boot --drops on the local economy in the form of major cutbacks at Fort Benning.
