The Victorian-gothic pop-opera Jekyll & Hyde comes to RiverCenter for one night only, Saturday, February 28. Adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson's famed novella about an English gentleman with two very different personalities, the story follows the ordeal of Henry Jekyll, an earnest young scientist who longs to pinpoint what he describes as "the nature of the demons that possess man's soul."
The epic struggle between good and evil comes to life on stage in this all new production of the musical phenomenon, Jekyll & Hyde. Featuring a thrilling score of pop rock hits from multi- Grammy and Tony nominated Frank Wildhorn & double Oscar and Grammy-winning Leslie Bricusse, Jekyll & Hyde has mesmerized audiences the world over.
An evocative tale of two—one a doctor, passionate and romantic—the other, a terrifying madman; and two women—one, beautiful and trusting—the other, beautiful and trusting only herself. Both women in love with the same man. Both unaware of his dark secret.
Their story unfolds in this gripping musical thriller resplendent with a sumptuous score including the unforgettable, “This Is the Moment”, “Someone Like You” and “A New Life”.
With a Grammy nominated score, the 1997 Tony nominated Broadway production of Jekyll & Hyde is the longest running show in the history of the Plymouth Theater.
The show has seen four major tours and over 500 regional productions in the United States and Canada. In conjunction with the performance, RiverCenter is offering a pre-performance dinner of sophisticated tastes and textures. The evenings’ menu: Cranberry salad, organic lettuces. Followed by a main course of pork scaloppini with wild mushrooms on a bed of risotto accompanied by braised cabbage. Trio of truffles for dessert. Dinner also includes bread, water, tea, coffee and one complimentary glass of wine. All for the prix fixe of $25. Meals prepared by Chef Dawn Farrow.
