Peachtree Mall Facing Frenzy of Work, Shuffling to Refresh Its Retail Mix

Books-A-Million is out and so is Radio Shack, while the popular clothing retailer Express also is among the dearly departed at Peachtree Mall in Columbus as the center moves toward a major refresh of its non-anchor lineup.

“It’s a ton of change. It’s a ton of opportunity to grow the mall and give our customers what they want and what they expect,” said Chris McCoy, the mall’s general manager.

A search of city building permits shows more than $2.8 million being spent on construction at the 3131 Manchester Expressway shopping center over the last six months. That includes money spent by the mall’s owner, General Growth Properties, and its various existing and on-the-way tenants.
