Columbus Technical College has named a special scholarship in honor of TCSG Commissioner Gretchen Corbin to commemorate her efforts in leading students through higher education. In order to qualify for the scholarship, the student must have completed an application, have at least a 2.5 GPA, presented two letters of recommendation, submitted a 200 word essay describing his or her career goals and financial needs, graduated in the Fall Semester 2014 class and is continuing his or her education at Columbus Technical College.

The recipient of this 250 dollar award funded by the Student Leadership Council goes to health sciences student Farida Amissah. In Farida’s case, she earned an associate degree in health sciences and is looking to enroll in the medical sonography program. Farida Amissah was presented her scholarship and check on Wednesday, April 8 by the Student Leadership Council, support staff, and faculty advisors.

In her essay, Farida wrote about the many health care career paths offered by Columbus Technical College and how she plans to “continue to attain my bachelors in sonography or health science to be able to advance into becoming an occupational therapist or a health administrator.”
