CTC SkillsUSA Team Brings Home 9 Medals from State Event

Columbus Technical College’s SkillsUSA team came home big winners and the proud owners of nine medals after a weekend of tough competition in Atlanta. The Georgia SkillsUSA event pits the best of the best in different trade and skills arenas including cabinet making, welding, technical drafting, community service, automotive technology and more.

Students and teams who placed first in their category will go on to compete in the national SkillsUSA event in Louisville, Kentucky June 23 – 26.

Silver medal (second place) winners are: Allison Lowry, Melissa Forsythe, Allison Cruz for Community Service, Kimberly Kennedy/Medical Math, Seth Spang, Barry Spurgin, Cristopher Taylor for Welding Fabrication. Bronze medal (third place) winners are: Chris Washington and Antonio Granillo for Technical Drafting, Austin Smith and Wilton Cornett for Mechatronics, Safiya Pearson for Medical Terminology. Also competing were: Sheena Clarke, Shaunte Scott, Artayvis Clark, Roger Black and Shawn Huber.
