Georgia Military College Columbus held a Military Spouse Appreciation Day for all military members and their families. This event was Thursday, May 7th, from 11AM-1PM in the Student Center and was open to the community. Free massages and free desserts were supplied. 13th Street Barbecue provided the desserts for the event.

This event was created and executed by the Veterans Club at GMC Columbus – a student organization that actively works on campus to raise awareness for veterans and provide information about assistance for veterans who may not know. The club’s current president is Sarah Hubbard and the advisor is Dr. Jared Lee – Assistant Professor of Biology.

Harry Turner of Columbus, GA, Veterans Club Treasurer, said they created the event “to show our appreciation for the armed forces and the jobs they do that protect this country.” Briana Rohadfox of Columbus, GA, said that after the massage she “felt like a new person.”
