Georgia Military College Columbus Students, Faculty, and Staff Commit to Complete

Press release from the issuing company

Tuesday, May 12th, 2015

This Thursday, May 7, 2015, Georgia Military College Columbus students, faculty, and staff came together to sign a pledge for ‘Commit to Completion.’ This is an initiative by the Phi Theta Kappa honors society to encourage students to graduate with degrees. A table was set up with a Commit to Completion banner where students, faculty, and staff could sign to show their support for the initiative. The banner gathered signatures throughout the day and was formally presented during the PTK induction the same day.

While students committed to completing their degrees, faculty and staff pledged to helping students do just that. Through advisement, excellent instruction, and encouragement, the faculty and staff of GMC Columbus pledged to see their students through to graduation.

“If you commit to graduating, you're setting your standards and you're going to complete and follow through with what you plan,” Kenterill Boden, of Columbus GA, felt that making this pledge accomplished this.

The Phi Theta Kappa induction was held that same day and the Columbus chapter, Beta Sigma Sigma, welcomed in 13 new members. In order to be invited to become a PTK member, students are required to maintain a 3.5 GPA and be enrolled in an institution that offers Associate Degrees. The members must also adhere to the moral code of PTK. All of the members pledged to commit to completion. The newest Phi Theta Kappa members of Georgia Military College Columbus are: Kevin Calderon of Columbus, GA, Deasy Contreras of Columbus, GA, Jazzmyne Curley of Columbus, GA, Madeleine Drew of Columbus, GA, Gregory Grantham of Columbus, GA, Latilia Harvey of Columbus, GA, Jasmine Hill of Columbus, GA, Sarah Hubbard of Columbus, GA, Anabelle Pillar of Midland, GA, Keerica Searcy of Columbus, GA, Justin Simmons of Fort Benning, GA, Shevonne Simpson of Waverly Hall, GA, and Charlene Woods of Columbus, GA.

PTK is a national honors society and the GMC Columbus chapter recently achieved 4-star status. GMC congratulates all of the new inductees for their hard work!
